Hey, business people, this is Brian Evans with BT Web Group, where We Believe that better marketing builds a better business every single time. Today I'm going to talk to you about the similarities between what you do every day, which is driving your car to get from A to B, to how you run your business, and how those two things, actually, compare with this little prop I've put together. A very simple little gas tank that's all tattooed up, and I'll explain exactly what this is in just a minute. Stick around.
All right. If you're watching this video, then I'm assuming that you have a car, or a driver's license, and you need that car to drive around every single day, to get from home to work, or home to the office, to go buy groceries, to go out to dinner with your spouse, whatever the case may be. I'm assuming, if you're watching this, right now, you have a car. I'm also assuming, if you're watching this video, right now, that you are a business owner, or a marketer, or a CEO, or some type of person that is in charge, or focuses, or thinks about how to grow your business more, particularly, based on marketing strategies.
If that is the case, then you are in the right place. Because, today, I'm going to talk to you about the similarities between you driving your car every single day to get from A to B, and how that compares to the reality of you running your business every day trying to get you from A to B in your business. What both of those things need, your car and your business, is fuel in order to run, which is why I have this fancy little gas tank. It's all tattooed up with a whole bunch of phrases on here. I'll explain a couple of these in a minute, but essentially what your car needs every day is, your car needs fuel. Your car needs gas. It doesn't matter what type of car you have, your car needs fuel. You can have the greatest car on the planet, the sexiest, the fastest, the coolest car on the planet, but if that car doesn't have fuel in it, then it will not run, period. You cannot get it out of the garage. You can't get it out your driveway. You cannot take it anywhere, if you don't have fuel.
Same thing with your business. If your business doesn't have fuel, it will not grow. It will not run. It will not work. It will not succeed. It will not be here for the long-haul. It doesn't matter what kind of business you have. If you have a lawn care business, if you have a painting business, if you're a dentist, a chiropractor, a doctor, whatever. It doesn't matter what your business is, if your business doesn't have fuel, it will not succeed either.
What is this? Fuel for your business is marketing. This gas tank represents marketing fuel, just like you can see right there. All over this gas tank you will see that my chief operating officer, Mary, has written all over it, as a reminder, and a demonstration of all of the things you could do with your marketing to fuel your business, to fuel your marketing. For example, we want to do things that help make stuff go viral: SEO, publicity, retargeting, remarketing, organic social media marketing, cold calling, Google monitoring, direct mail monitoring, billboard ads, vehicle wraps, web design, digital analytics, online reviews, etc. You name it, it's on here.
What this is, is this is something that we use to really remind us, as a digital marketing agency, the importance of putting fuel into your business and demonstrating the importance of putting fuel into your business. Just keep in mind, that no matter what type of car you drive, you need fuel in that car in order for that car to take you places. Same thing with your business, no matter what type of business you have, your business needs fuel in order to take you places. The fuel for your business is marketing. Unfortunately, just like the fuel for your car is not free, the marketing for your business is not free either. Even if you're the one doing the work, and you're providing the labor, and the expertise behind your marketing with social media, or whatever, that labor is still your labor. It's your time. It's your money. It's opportunity costs that you could be doing with something else.
So, no matter what it is, the fuel for your business, the marketing fuel for your business, is not free either, even if you're doing it. Think about this, because this is really important. Imagine this, next time you go and fill up your car, and every time you go and fill up your car, for that matter, you have to be thinking about how good this fuel is for your car. Because without it, you wouldn't be able to get to the next destination. Without the fuel for your business, that being marketing, then you would not be able to get to the next destination in your business. Therefore, make sure you're always putting fuel in your business, so you can go places.
What I'm saying today isn't rocket science. It's not something brand new. It's not something innovative. It's just a reminder. Your car needs fuel to get from A to B. Your business needs fuel to take you places, as well. And think about this, you could have the greatest business, the greatest idea, the greatest invention, the greatest product, the greatest service, the greatest food ever, but if nobody knows about it, then it really doesn't matter and that's why you need fuel for your business to help you succeed, to help create awareness, brand presence, brand equity. You could take such good care of your car. You could take you car through car washes all the time. You could vacuum it out, polish it, and wax it. You name it.
Same thing with your business. You could put all the right pieces. You could have all the right equipment, the right tools, the right resources, but if you're not doing any marketing, then your business isn't going to grow. If you're not putting fuel in your car, then no matter how beautiful that car looks, it's not going to really run, because you don't have fuel. I can't tell you how important it is to have fuel in your business. The fuel is marketing. You need it. You've got to have it. It will take you places when you do it right.
